We know that there are healthcare disparities across different communities in Britain. Access to healthcare varies and some parts of the population are significantly more likely to experience poor mental and physical health, social exclusion and loneliness.

We are particularly interested in tackling health inequality.

Apply to access funds if you are an organisation working to reduce health disparities in your community

We are interested in supporting voluntary organisations that specifically offer health and wellbeing programmes to communities that might be geographically or socially isolated. This is the type of work we will consider supporting:

Organisations working in rural communities where people find it harder to access health and social care, general practice, medicine and transport.
Services that offer specific healthcare or wellbeing support to people that might face barriers accessing care due to race, gender or socio-economic factors.

We would love to hear from projects that are working to reduce health disparities between communities.

Bloomsbury Football Foundation currently supports over 2,200 girls per week – making the organisation the largest provider of girls’ football in the UK, and by far the largest with a charitable mission that also offers financial support to players.

We took part in wrapping thousands of donated gifts. 96 volunteers gift wrapped more than 3,500 donated beauty and hygiene gifts to be distributed across the UK later this week.

Beauty Banks, Crisis, Dreams Come True and FoodCycle all work to improve wellbeing. In different ways they offer support and dignity to people who find themselves – through no fault of their own – in tough situations.

National Volunteer Week (2 June – 6 June) is a big deal for most charities. We were delighted to visit FoodCycle in Peckham on 4 June to see for ourselves how the organisation works.

Reducing school holiday hunger – Feeding Britain

Over the Easter holidays, many food clubs in the Feeding Britain network ran activity and food programmes to make sure children didn’t go hungry when their school was closed. The Health Lottery Foundation have donated £20,000 to Feeding Britain to allow them to support more families over the school holidays later this year.
