Our CEO, Delva Patman visited Crisis in Tower Hamlets to see firsthand how the £75K we awarded the charity in November has been spent.
Thanks to players of The Health Lottery this money has been used to strengthen Crisis’ frontline services in London, including its Christmas provision and year-round support delivered through Crisis Skylight centres.
Delva Patman, said,
“It was a pleasure to visit the London Skylight Centre in East London, and to have a tour around the building and meet some of the staff and volunteers. I was particularly impressed with their approach, facilitating cross agency working through their meeting space. The service is clearly pulling together many strands of support for members facing challenging situations.”
The London Skylight Centre provides tailored housing support based on individual need. The service aims to help end people’s homelessness sustainably. We were delighted to learn more about the charity’s health and wellbeing projects as well as the integrated clinical psychology and visiting opticians’ service.
Michelle Furne, Trust and Statutory Executive at Crisis, responsible for securing funding and developing propositions for services across Great Britain, said,
“The grant from the Health Lottery Foundation contributed towards Crisis’ Christmas services which includes a mix of hotel provision and day centres. We offer warmth, a safe place to stay, and specialist support during one of the toughest times of the year and this helps people take their first steps out of homelessness.”
Thank you to Michelle, Ian Richards, Head of Crisis at Christmas and Dulal Ahmed, Director of Crisis Skylight London for showing us around.
