Our CEO, Delva Patman took part in the Phab Summer Open day at Avon Tyrrell on Wednesday 13 August, where she met participants and staff. Avon Tyrrell is one of the locations where Phab Adventures offer young people life-changing opportunities.
Delva said,
“I was so impressed not just by the venue but the amount of detailed work and care that clearly goes in to organising such inclusive experiences for all Phab guests, their supporters and families. The dedication and commitment of staff and the volunteers shone through.”

Phab has 68 years of experience
For decades Phab has been supporting young people and adults through weekly clubs and residential adventure projects. The activities offered bring together disabled and non-disabled people in an inclusive environment. This brings mutual benefits to both groups of people.
A parent visiting Avon Tyrrell said,
“I feel so grateful to see all my children accessing things together. I feel empowered by watching the Phab staff meet all our needs and making the impossible possible for Rosie. Phab feels like a bubble in which the differences in our family no longer cause us limits. Phab makes us feel like we belong and that everyone understands our needs. This week has been enriching for all of our lives. A priceless experience.”
7,000 people offered support
Phab’s programme brings increased confidence for disabled people – 97.2% of beneficiaries reported improvements in this area after taking part in an activity.
Recent evaluations report that adventure activities are particularly effective in encouraging individuals to challenge their perceived limitations. 98.6% of people reported reduced isolation indicating they’ve made new friends.
A parent said,
“My daughter doesn’t get to go out to play with the local children and doesn’t get invited to many parties – but all of these things she enjoys at Phab.”
£15K to support Phab Adventures
Thanks to players of The Health Lottery, £15,000 has been awarded to Phab Adventures. This grant will help run the Adventures Programme for 200 people.
Phab Adventures brings accessible and inclusive residential adventures throughout the year.
